Katherine "Rin" Faust is a German student of sorts, and natural transeer. She was abandoned at the age of 2, although she did not remember exactly when or why she was abandoned; she only knows what her foster parents have told her. She was home-schooled until the age of 14, at which point she ran away from home. Unlike Kazuki Kamata, Rin receives absolutely no instruction in transeeing. The combination of her childish imagination and curiosity provides an exploration for her unrealistic (but functioning) dream worlds.

She is most significant as an antagonist in opposition to Kazuki, although she is also a playable character. It should be noted that Rin is loosely based off of Number 35 from Elfen Lied, in terms of personality and outlook.

Backstory/History

Rin was born in Michelstadt, Germany. Her exact birth date is unknown, but reckoned to be around December, 1994. Immediately after the 1995 Review and Extension Conference of the Parties to the Non-Proliferation of the Nuclear Weapons (fourth session), Rin was found in the parking lot of the United Nations Headquarters in New York. She was handed over to the authorities. The local police department intended to give her to the local orphanage, but the orphanage denied the request, using "we are full" as justification. Rin was meant to be shipped by train to a small orphanage in San Francisco, but due to a communication error, Rin was left at the train station.

You are Katherine "Rin" Faust, a foster child. Found in the streets of Sacramento as an infant, you never knew your parents. Two things were left with you: a small blanket, and a photograph of your parents. The world was never particularly kind to you, leaving you alone and without a voice, but it gave you one grace: a loving foster mother. Having been abandoned herself, your mother couldn't help herself from quietly taking you off of the streets, and she began raising you while she was in college. Of course, this means sometimes wondering when your next meal is, but thus far, you've managed to get by. When you were eight years old, you purposefully burned the two aforementioned things. Your mind matured very early, and you understood that the past, while worth remembering, is not worth holding onto. But as a child, you can't help but holding onto the past, and keep the ashes of both items in your back pocket. Ironically, you also burned a third thing: your right arm. Very early into the game's story, you learn that you are a "transeer" (\tran-sē-ər\), and a very powerful one. You are a person whose dreams affect reality. Sadly, although understandably, you have an extremely negative view of the world. The player picks up this story when Rin is 16 years old, and still living in Sacramento with her mother...
